Never Say Never

Never say never is what my Mother always said.  Just as sure as you do, something or someone will prove you wrong.   Snow like this NEVER happens in Texas.  But it did snow in Texas this week.  All over the North Texas area and over into East Texas.  I have heard that DFW Airport reported 12 1/2 inches of snow.  We didn't get that much here, but it was more snow than I've ever seen in Texas.

It was beautiful, and the neighbors came outside and we had a great time making a snowman.  Our electricity went off on Friday night and finally came back this afternoon.  That was kind of fun the first day, much like camping out in your own house.  Was really glad we had a fireplace and a Coleman Lantern.  By this morning it was not as much fun though.   I was in desperate need of a shower and a cup of hot tea.

I did walk through our neighborhood taking pictures of the trees covered in snow.  The pictures really don't do them justice though.  Also you will see the pine tree that broke from the weight of the snow and fell onto our Jeep and driveway.  We lost several limbs in the front and back also, with one just missing the back bedroom window by inches.    But all in all we were very lucky.  There were several very large pines that could have easily taken out half of the house.

Valentine Candy Tents

I saw these adorable little bags on Split Coast Stampers and knew I had to try to make one.  It is basically one piece of cardstock, scored and folded to create a little tent.  The candy goes into a little bag hidden inside the tent.  I used Close To My Heart's January Stamp of the Month, D 1406 - True Friends for the frame.  The heart is from Key To My Heart Stamp set, and the little bee and sentiment are from the Petite Perks Collection - Bee Mine.  I added black Stickles to the frame, and clear stickles to the little bee.    You can find instructions at the Split Coast Stampers web site.
