Last Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting with a great groups of friends (Lynn, Amy, Melissa, Julie, Jennifer, Gladys, and Desiree') at Lupe's home in Little Elm. Lupe had prepared a whole array of yummy foods for our lunch. The coconut macaroons were awesome! She had crocheted beautiful little baskets to hold a bag full of chocolate candy - one each for all of us. Wasn't that sweet??? I wish I could be organized enough to accomplish something that cool. After we finished the project for the day and learned how to make a new paper flower, everyone worked on their own scrapbook pages and cards. I actually was able to work on some pages also. I usually don't get much accomplished because I like to visit and goof off too much.
Here's the baskets that Lupe crocheted for us. Of course mine no longer contains the chocolates. Wonder what happened to them. Wink, wink.
Our project was this pinwheel spinner card. It is made using the Miracle paper pack from Close To My Heart. I used the cupcake card from the shoe box swap as inspiration for the design. When tilted a little, the pinwheel tumbles down the slot in the card. It was a BIG hit. Someone suggested that it would make a cute 4th of July card with a fireworks burst in place of the pinwheel. Or a great summer card with a beachball tumbling across the card. I love being around so much creative thinking.
Finally, here's the little treat box that I made for the guests. The one with the Just Blooms white flower is the one that I made. Then I showed them how to make the "carnation" paper flower. When I got home I decided that it looked really nice on the little box, so I took a picture of that too.
What a fun day. And the best part was that our hostess, Lupe, earned $100 in products and two items at half price. Not a bad way to build up your stash of gorgeous scrapbook and card making products. Many thanks to Lupe and her family for welcoming us to their home for the day.
